Overview

Hart County Schools represent over 2,300 students pre-K through grade 12. The district has five elementary schools located throughout the county: Bonnieville Elementary, Cub Run Elementary, LeGrande Elementary, Memorial Elementary and Munfordville Elementary. Hart County High School in Munfordville is the only high school for the school district.

Caverna Independent School System operates 3 schools within the Hart and Barren County area. Caverna Middle School (6th - 8th grade) and High School (9th - 12th grade) located in Horse Cave, KY share the same building and is composed of 400 students. The Caverna Elementary School located in Cave City, KY serves 400 students in preschool through 5th grade.

The new Hart County High School is currently being constructed and the new facility is scheduled to open by the end of 2018.

The county has secured a grant to help fund the Green River College and Career Academy to be built on the grounds of the new Hart County High School. The new facility is expected to be opened by the end of 2018 and will feature dual credit classes for students (of both Hart County and Caverna school districts) during the day and adult education classes in the evening. The courses offered will center around Advanced Manufacturing, Healthcare, Information Technology and transportation/Logistics.

Did You Know?

  • In 1945 there were 67 one-room schools throughout the county. These schools served students in grades first through 8th. By 1954 all the schools had been closed.

Colleges and Universities

Western Kentucky University in Bowling Green and Glasgow are a just a short drive for many Hart County residents.  Offering more than 170 choices for undergraduate areas of study through majors, minors, associate degree programs, certificate programs, pre-professional study and areas of concentration within majors.  They also offer more than 125 graduate programs.

Community Colleges

Elizabethtown Community and Technical College offers students in the surrounding areas a chance to receive an Associates degree and the opportunity to transfer those credits to a 4-year institution. ECTC also partners with business and industries to to provide both customized training for employees and continuing education opportunities.

Vocational & Technical

By the end of 2018, the new Green River College and Career Academy will open for students.  The new facility will be located on the Hart County High School campus and will provide both dual credit classes for students during the day and Adult Education classes at night.

Elizabethtown Community and Technical College has 6 locations within a short drive from Hart County. The Main Campus located in Bowling Green, KY offers a variety of programs including Associate in Arts and Science, Allied Health, Culinary Arts, and Applied Technology. The KATI Campus in Bowling Green offers programs in Business Administration Systems, Computer and Information Technologies and Medical Information Technology. The Transpark Center in Bowling Green offers programs in Computerized Manufacturing and Machining and Engineering and Electronics Technology. The One Glasgow Campus offers programs in Nursing and The Glasgow Technology Campus offers programs in Industrial Maintenance and Computer and Information Technologies.
