The El Centro Music Festival & Fireworks Show takes place each year in April. Held in Stark Field, a minor league baseball stadium, the show typically hosts about 5,000 guests. In addition to games and food booths, the event features live musical performances, including reggae, rock and tribute bands. The evening ends with a fireworks show (USA Today).

The city of Calexico, located 12 miles south of El Centro, hosts the Mariachi Festival Sin Fronteras each May. Established in 1991, the evening concert features mariachi bands and competitions. The event also includes arts and crafts from Mexico, and a wide variety of authentic foods.

The Brawley-based annual Mariachi Festival occurs in early November. Held in Eddie Wiest, a minor league stadium, the evening event is free to the public. The concert features a wide array of mariachi bands, many of which invite audience members on stage to sing along. Founded in 1982, the event attracts approximately 8,000 visitors each year.

The Imperial Valley Desert Museum houses Native American and historic artifacts collected from within the Valley. The exhibits showcase traits unique to the Valley, such as how Native Americans adapted to the extreme desert landscapes.

The Imperial Valley is also home to the Pioneers' Park Museum, which includes various galleries covering aspects of the life and history of the Valley as well as honoring the different ethnic communities and their history of settlement in the Valley.
The museum aims to preserve the vision and journey of those who saw potential in the region and have worked to make the community what it is today (Pioneers' Park Museum).

The Imperial County Historical Society was organized as the Imperial Valley Pioneers Society in 1928 to preserve the life histories of early settlers. While its name has since changed, its ongoing mission is still to preserve the unique development of the irrigated desert and the people who developed the area's modern history.
