Why Bourbon County?

Encompassing the three small cities of Paris, Millersburg, and North Middletown, Bourbon County is nestled in the heart of Kentucky's Bluegrass region. Its very name evokes visions of Thoroughbred horses grazing in lush green pastures bordered by age-old stone fences, lovely historic homes and buildings, and beautiful rolling countryside; which is exactly what you'll find driving into the county down Paris Pike.

Having more than 50 horse farms, Bourbon County is proudly known as the Thoroughbred Capital of the World. Come enjoy the views and history of the world famous Claiborne Farm, where Triple Crown winner Secretariat stood at stud for many years and is buried. Or tour Adena Springs, especially known for their stallions, which is a large enough operation to have locations in Canada and Florida as well.

The historic downtown is evolving into the kind of place you'd want to spend your day. From new micro breweries to hand made soap, fine cuisine to taco stands, antiques to barber shops, and everything in between Bourbon County has a diversity in business like nowhere else.

There are several fun festivals for all ages celebrated throughout the county, such as the Secretariat Festival, the ArtWalk, Third Thursday at the Courthouse, Cruise-In's, and many more. Our beautiful historic courthouse has the perfect lawn for community events. Bourbon County is a place with a place for everyone, no matter your interests.
