Why Fleming County?

Fleming County covers 351 square miles in the outer Bluegrass region of northeastern Kentucky. We are located 55 miles northeast of Lexington, Kentucky; 75 miles southeast of Cincinnati, Ohio; 130 miles east of Louisville, Kentucky; and within a day's drive of 65% of the U.S. population.

Flemingsburg is a delightful little town to visit, and great place to live! Full of historic buildings, it is surrounded by beautiful rolling farmland with three lovely old wooden covered bridges. Antique shops, folk artists, and talented crafts persons complete the picture of life at an enjoyable pace, along with some Amish and Mennonites living in the countryside. Golf, fishing, camping, swimming, tennis, hiking, hunting, and boating are all available. Simple pleasures can also be enjoyed by taking a late night stroll around the town square.

Open since late 2006, the Fleming County Covered Bridge Museum is organized and run entirely by volunteers from the Fleming County Museum Society. The Fleming County Museum Society is dedicated to preserving the history of Fleming County through the education of the general public and the display of items related to the county's development.
