Mason County Work Ready Certification
Mason County was certified as a Work Ready Community in May 2017.  This is a measure of a county's workforce quality.  It is an assurance to business and industry that the community is committed to providing the highly-skilled workforce required in today's competitive global economy.
To achieve the certification, representatives from local government, economic development, education, business and industry and workforce development come together to compile their county's information.  Criteria measured are as follows:  high school graduation rate, educational attainment including decreasing the number of those who do not have a high school Diploma, community support, soft skills training available in secondary and post secondary schools and industry, presenting a plan to increase the number of residents who hold a National Career Readiness Certificate, and availability of internet.

Realizing the great need for a trained workforce, the Northeast KY FAME chapter started in August 2016. The program was begun to provide education while working for the position of Industrial Maintenance.
Eleven companies have partnered with Maysville Community & Technical College. Students in the cohort work three days and week and go to school two days a week. In two years, they have a two year degree and the possibility of full time employment.
