Harrodsburg has long been known as an educational community. It is served by two public school systems and an Adult Education Center. Campbellsville University has the Conover Education Center here in Harrodsburg that serves High school dual credit, Technology and certificate programs and Liberal Arts degrees as well as on-line classes. A two, four or Master's degree is available.  Both cosmetology and Barbering salons are on site.  There are three post secondary institutions within 10 miles and 11 more within a 45 minute drive.


Mercer County Schools enroll 3,000 students while Burgin Independent Schools enroll 550.


Educational attainment has been a focus of the Mercer Chamber and we partner with Adult Basic Education and the Trailblazer Academy.  We have assisted in bring Campbellsville University to our area.  Bluegrass Community and Technical College is a strong member and has the Advanced Manufacturing program as well tech and general studies programs.

Education and Workforce Partnership Efforts

Industry and education work together to create and sustain a better workforce. Middle school students and high school students are introduced to career choices regularly. Programs such as Senior Seminar and Eighth Grade Industry Day allow the students as well as employers to interact and build relationships.
HMCIDA also hosts a yearly Industry/Education Appreciation Luncheon that gets executives from both sides together for relationship building. The Mercer Chamber is part of the Talent Pipeline Network of the Kentucky Workforce Center.

  • The University of Kentucky was established in 1865 as the Agricultural and Mechanical College of the Kentucky University. The Kentucky University had been established in Harrodsburg in 1858.

Mercer County Schools and Burgin Independent Schools are both unique opportunities for students. Mercer Co. is a large system with an enrollment of 3,000 plus, while Burgin is smaller system with approximately 550 students.  For more information call Mercer Co.
