Overview

Saratoga County, New York is known for Health, History, Horses. As part of its unique history, the Saratoga Performing Arts Center has been the summer home of the New York City Ballet and Philadelphia Orchestra for decades. In 2017, the Universal Preservation Hall will offer the community a year-round arts venue, featuring a state-of-the-art theatre-in-the-round.

Not to be overshadowed is the storied artist residence and gardens of Yaddo. Skidmore College boasts The Tang Museum and as well as a performing arts venue.

Dance

In addition to modern and classic dance performances at the Saratoga Performing Arts Center and Arthur Zankle Music Center, Saratoga County is home to the National Museum of Dance and Hall of Fame, one of the only museums in the world dedicated to dance. The museum's School of the Arts and the Lewis A. Swyer Studios offer a broad range of classes, residencies, and programs.

Music

The Saratoga Performing Arts Center's acoustically superlative amphitheater idyllically located in Saratoga Spa State Park offers a diverse performing arts programs, including:

  • the New York City Ballet;

Caffe Lean, an iconic coffeehouse, hosts worldclass artists and has helped launch the careers of numerous legendary songwriters including Bob Dylan, Arlo Guthrie, and Ani DiFranco.

National Museum of Dance and Hall of Fame

In addition to artifacts related to all forms of dance, the museum includes a dance studio and dance school.

National Museum of Racing and Hall of Fame

Home to Thoroughbred racing for over 150 years, Saratoga Springs’ rich horse racing history is celebrated at the National Museum of Racing and Hall of Fame.

The Children's Museum at Saratoga

Little ones enjoy hands-on, experience-based exploration of arts, science, theater, and community establishments.

The Frances Young Tang Teaching Museum and Art Gallery

Located at Skidmore College, the Tang Museum exhibits over 7000 unique pieces ranging from paintings, drawings, photographs, prints and sculptures.

Saratoga Automobile Museum

Located in the Spa State Park in the renovated Bottling Plan, the Saratoga Automobile Museum pays homage to the history of the automobile.

Saratoga Springs History Museum

Located in picturesque Congress Park, this museum celebrates Saratoga's rich history.

New York State Military Museum and Veteran's Research Center

Displays over 10,000 artifacts representing New York State’s military history from the Revolutionary War to Desert Storm.

Brookside Museum

This museum is home to the Saratoga Historical Society.

New York State Museum

Just a short distance from Saratoga County, the New York State Museum contains artifacts pertinent to the state's history including a poignant display from 9/11.
